In news that may be a surprise to others in the industry, the latest news is that cosmetic surgery is becoming more and more popular amongst new mothers in the period following childbirth.

A variety of procedures have increased in popularity with new mothers in a set of procedures that have been deemed ‘Mummy Makeovers’ by those in the industry, including such procedures as breast lifts and enlargements as well as tummy tucks.

Dr Hugh McLean observed that ‘new mothers simply don’t have the elasticity they need to bounce back to their pre-pregancy bodies, no matter how much they work out or diet.’ Noting that with the typical age of pregnancy increasing, it was likely that young mothers would find the typical loose skin and weight gain of pregnancy ‘disheartening.’

One of the primary reasons for this attitude is likely to be the various celebrity mothers, such as Coleen Rooney – wife of cheating footballer Wayne – who has managed to obtain a magnificent figure only a couple of months after giving birth.

However, Dr McLean revealed that the celebrity ‘yummy mummies’ may be not entirely natural, stating that many celebrities actually achieve their post-baby figures with the aid of a cosmetic surgeon, although he didn’t name any specifics.
