Although dieting is still the most common form of fat removal, demand for cosmetic procedures to remove fat is growing rapidly. Latest year-on-year comparison figures for growth in demand for cosmetic procedures is over 40%, and half of that demand is aimed at fat removal weight loss.

Lipo suction and 'smart' liposuction still make up the lion's share of fat removal procedure, but gastric band procedures are the fastest growing removal procedure in terms of popularity. So much so that many of the larger cosmetic procedure groups have to taken on more staff to cope.

Lipo suction enquires have leapt in the same period 21% as people augmenting diet and exercise for instant results. According to the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons demand for cosmetic procedures has doubled over the last three years, with the early part of 2008 being one of the best growth periods ever for the plastic surgery industry, despite the economic slowdown! Strangely, the only fall in demand has been for nose jobs and eyelift.
