Lip Enhancement
While Botox and other fillers can do a great job of temporarily increasing the volume of your lips sometimes it is not enough to create the look you desire - and this is where a lip enhancement comes in, as our procedure guide explains...
Lip enhancement is a procedure designed to not just increase the volume of your lips, but also to change the contours, and shape of your lips. Because it is more involved you get a more permanent result.
It is a cosmetic procedure worth considering as you age, because your lips begin to lose their fullness and the gap between your upper lip and nose become wider, giving you a frown-like appearance. A lip enhancement is designed to fix that.
The Lip Enhancement Procedure
Depending on your personal circumstance a variety of products and procedures may be used to achieve your look but generally speaking your plastic surgeon will look to shorten the area between your nose and top lip, which will require a small amount of surgery to 'lift' the lip back up again before the filling stage starts.
Here the options get even broader as you surgeon may use collagen, Alloderm or even a threaded material called Goretex, which can be implanted inside the lip to create plumpness. Fillers such as Botox or Restylane may also be used to help bulk up the lip and the procedure itself will either be performed under local or general anaesthetic.
Lip Enhancement Recovery
Recovery time after a lip lift or lip augmentation is generally quite minimal, although you will be required to spend a night in hspital is general anaesthetic has been used. After that expect some bruising and swelling, which will slowly disappear over a four to six week period.
